ASHLAND - Police dog Dax is recovering after spinal surgery, according to Ashland police.“Sgt. Alberini, his handler, noticed he appeared to be in a little bit of pain,” Lt. Richard Briggs said Thursday.An MRI at Tufts Veterinary Hospital revealed Dax had a compressed spine, which Briggs said the German shepherd could have sustained while working.
